Community Care Day took place at 15 area non-profit agencies on Tuesday, September 15, 2009 with nearly 200 volunteers donating their time and energy with a variety of tasks. United Way of Delaware County sponsors this annual event not only to provide much needed service to area non-profits, but also as an opportunity for employees who donate at their workplace to see first-hand some of the recipients of their financial gifts. Volunteers tackled jobs like making holiday cards for seniors, reading to pre-school children, planting, mulching, painting and organizing.
Employees participating in this year's day of service were from the following businesses and organizations:
Exel
Associated Hygienic Products
Bry-Air
Luvata
JC Penney
Grady Memorial Hospital/OhioHealth
V&P Hydraulics
American Family Insurance
Worthington Cylinders
Greif Inc.
Delaware County Bank & Trust
Buehler's
Nationwide
Delaware County
In photo above, volunteers from Delaware County Bank & Trust and Buehler's helped with the annual carnival at the adult day care program at Heritage Day Health Center in Delaware. With a fundraising goal of $3.1 million, the United Way of Delaware County welcomes more businesses to join the effort by running workplace campaigns. The theme for the campaign is to "Live United," which is accomplished by giving, advocating and volunteering. Contributions of money, time and support help the United Way of Delaware County fund agencies that are helping to change lives.
