Young Professionals Network Presents the Wilshire 5k - Proceeds Benefit United Way of Delaware County Community Fund

July 10, 2012

United Way of Delaware County Young Professionals Network will host the Wilshire 5K on August 4 in Lewis Center. This event includes a Kids’ Fun Run at 9:30 a.m. ($5/entry) and 5K at 10 a.m. ($25/entry). Pre-race online registration is encouraged.

Started in 2010 by Rivers Insurance Group President Ryan Rivers, the Wilshire 5K has donated significant dollars to charity. By partnering with United Way of Delaware County (UWDC) Young Professionals Network (YPN), the goal is to broaden attendance, raise even more funds, and increase the impact on the entire community by donating proceeds to United Way’s Community Fund.

“The Wilshire neighborhood is a fantastic venue for setting up a 5K course,” says Rivers. “Through working our connections with the Young Professionals Network and United Way of Delaware County, I’m confident we’ll have a record-breaking turnout and be able to donate a sizeable gift to the Community Fund. Wilshire residents and the YPN extend a countywide invitation to join us in making a difference.”

UWDC President Brandon Feller adds, “This 5K event is unique in that the funds raised will benefit many different programs that improve the overall quality of life in Delaware County, rather than focus on a single non-profit. We are excited about this partnership and to engage a volunteer team of Young Professionals to make this event happen.”

This year’s sponsors are: Advocare, Animal Hospital of Polaris, Barley Hopsters, Creative Financial Services, The Delaware County Bank, Haller Wealth Management Group, Kiwi’s, Leaf Chiropractic, Optimal Eye Care, PostNet, PureMotion Creative, Rivers Insurance Group, Quick Solutions, SportClips of Lewis Center, and Underwood Orthodontics.

If you are between the ages of 21-49, live or work in Delaware County, and would like to get involved with UWDC YPN, contact United Way at (614) 436-8929.
